I am a professor in the Department of Political Science at Rice University. I am also co-Editor-in-Chief of International Organization. You can find my brief bio here. My research focuses on the design and effects of international agreements and on the influence of domestic politics on foreign policy.  Much of my work has concentrated on military alliances.  I am an active advisor of Ph.D. students, and I have held leadership positions in many scholarly associations (including the Peace Science Society, the International Studies Association, and the American Political Science Association).
